So I installed this very cool “tumblr mp3 downloader” plug-in, it’s very neat, I can now download every song you guys put online… but did you notice the “please-dont-download-this-or-our-lawyers-wont-let-us-host-audio” that appears at the end of each link? Is it true or what? I feel kind of bad for them now… it’s just that I hate to go through the research pages to find files that I can stream, I prefer to keep them in some temporary folder on my hard-drive. But it’s always the same problem about music, copyright, torrents, etc. People who actually love music are people who buy music. I guess most tumblrs are music buyers. Should we put like more pictures of our albums as proof? I think this feature is more like making a mix-tape for your friends, so it’s kinda under the right of privacy or private copy (that’s a rough translation from French, I don’t know if it makes any sens)… I’m not a lawyer. Please share your thoughts!

In the US it is illegal to download copyrighted material.  Streaming it is legal and that is why tumblr is allows us to do it.  I am not the morality police, but if you care so little for the music that you are willing to steal it, then is it even worth listening to?  In my experience with the garbage that appears on my dashboard, the answer is no… so steal away… I guess.
